Inspired Pessimism

Inspired Pessimism

St. Mary Magdalene contemplating the world to come.

I am an inspired, happy, joyful pessimist. I am Catholic and ultra-realist. I adhere to the most astounding conspiracy theory ever conceived: that there is a single spirit that embodies all evil, and he wants to kill us all. Every. Last. One of us.

Therefore, I see the devil behind every dark corner and under every slimy rock. Because of him, the earth will melt away in heat…

… and everything will be burnt up…

“But the day of the Lord shall come as a thief, in which the heavens shall pass away with great violence, and the elements shall be melted with heat, and the earth and the works which are in it, shall be burnt up.” ~ 2 Peter 3:10

That’s the pessimism part…

Now, for the inspired, happy, joyful, part…

Our Redeemer defeated that evil spirit. That terrible personification of evil already is defeated. We are here, in time and space, as a gift, a grace, to participate in that victory over sin and death. We do not simply receive our salvation; we are privileged to participate in it! We are given the gift to become like our Redeemer as the result. It is our glory to bring the reality of the Heavenly form of the Kingdom of God, “on earth as it is in Heaven.”

St. Thérèse of Lisieux and St. Joan of Arc were both ultra-realists.

…there’s more good news. The Blessed Virgin Mary’s Kingdom of Catholic France is a real form in that Kingdom of God that we are to bring “on earth as it is in Heaven.” It is our glory to participate with Our Lady and the saints as we do our part to bring about the reign of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and, through the reign of the Kingdom of Catholic and Royal France in our hearts, the reign of the Sacred Heart of Christ the King in the world.

We can be part of this Kingdom forever in union with St. Mary Magdalene, St. Joan of Arc, and St. Thérèse of Lisieux….

That should inspire us…

“Our Lord first served” ~ St. Joan of Arc
